Each season, Actors' NET names its Most Valuable Performers - the talent who performed above and beyond the call of duty. This season, Actors' NET is honored to name two more talented and gracious artists to our roster of MVPs: Ryan Dethy and Carol Thompson. RYAN DETHY was the run-away choice this season. The young actor had a phenomenal year with us - starting in September as Capt. Keller's headstrong son James in The Miracle Worker. The next month he played the comic romantic Doctor Sanderson in Harvey. In December, Ryan was back to playing light comedy as Richard Stanley, the son who wanted to pursue a career as a photographer, in The Man Who Came to Dinner. In January, Ryan was the sensitive Young Monk who gave his life protecting his master in Becket. Ryan was next set to appear with us in The Lion In Winter, when a brief illness struck. Fortunately, he recovered fully and is back again - this month as Mordred in Camelot. As important to us as his talent, Ryan is simply one of the nicest people one will ever encounter in theater. Actors' NET is elated he found his way to us years ago. We have been proud to assist in his growth as an actor and are equally-proud to name him an MVP. CAROL THOMPSON is a magnificent actress. Time and again, she has played memorable roles for Actors' NET. She was an exquisite "Marmee" in Little Women. Last season, she earned great respect as an actress ... essaying the role of Gertrude in Hamlet. Last August, she moved with ease from classic drama to musical comedy - romping as Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady. During this year's "Four King" series, Carol turned in stunning performances as Gwendolen in Becket, Cordelia in King Lear and tonight's charming turn as Queen Guenevere. When not acting in the series, she assistant directed The Lion In Winter. As noted about our other honoree, Carol doesn't just impress onstage. She is also an exceptional human being. Carol radiates a special joy and sense of happiness which seems to permeate all around her. Many of our young performers (and not so young) have come to look up to her. And rightly so! Actors' NET is pleased to honor Carol Thompson an MVP. Congrats to both. We are certain our frequent play-goers will concur in our choices. -Cheryl and Joe Doyle, Co-Founders |
