"New Play" Reading Series

The ActorsNET of Bucks County is pleased to announce the formation of a new play reading series. Starting with Season 13, the Actors’NET will provide a forum for local playwrights to have their works heard before a live audience. Designed to focus on the plays themselves (as opposed to a scene study acting workshop) each script will be read by a group of actors, with an open invitation to all who want to simply attend to hear the play read aloud, or participate in a discussion of the work afterwards. For the new play it’s a very important part of the creative process for the playwright to hear the characters come to life and allow for adjustments, rewrites, and fine-tuning. These experimental productions serve as an incubator and laboratory for actors, writers, directors, and producers to practice and explore their craft free from the constraints of production schedules, budgets, criticism and public performance.

Join us for an evening of excitement as new plays are read, followed by a discussion with the playwright and audience.
Who knows, one of these plays might receive a full-scale production at the NET in an upcoming season.
