2013 SUMMER STARS NOW BEING REGISTERED
Actors' NET is now accepting reservations for our popular 2013 Summer Stars Program.
Entering its 15th year, this unique program runs July 8 to the weekend of August 2, 2013. We instruct students in the basics in acting, singing and dance. The training is geared specifically to the proficiency level of each student. At the end of the course, they perform in full-length musical shows that have been custom-written, ensuring each student is performing material suitable to their level of talent. And because the shows are custom-tailored, no one is a mere "spear carrier." All have their moments to shine, to be a star.
Classes for youngsters (age 7 - 12) are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Teen classes (age 13 - 17) are Monday through Friday from 1:30 - 5:30 p.m. Instruction takes place at The Heritage Center, 635 N. Delmorr Avenue, Morrisville, PA 19067.
NET Cofounder, General Manager and Playwright in Residence Joe Doyle once again helms the program, supervising his professional staff, including Choreographer/Dance Instructor Dani Tucci-Juraga; Acting Instructor Tess Ammerman (a former Summer Star herself, who has also studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) and Musical Director Laurie Gougher (who holds a Master's Degree in Music Education and has 18 years' experience teaching music in public schools at all levels). Staff assistants Sarah Webster and Kelly Weise are also slated to return.
Once again, our youngsters and the teens will perform separate full length musicals.
The kids take to the stage in The Littlest Hobos: Local kids meet and befriend youngsters whose families are drifters. When things start winding up missing, who is suspected? Why, the hobos, of course! Are they guilty? Is somebody trying to make the wandering ones look bad? Singing, dancing, acting - comedy and drama -- and a few sound moral lessons along the way. Educational as well as fun!
For the teens, it's excitement and mayhem: A musical "dramady" -- combining drama and comedy. In Devastation Day, the teens fight to survive after their community is taken over by lawbreakers who wreak chaos and violence. Naturally, in the end, good triumphs!
Both musicals will feature a wide-range of music, hits from Broadway and popular music (current and harkening back to their parents' and grandparents' youth).
After years of holding the line, there is a modest increase in the tuition due to the rising costs of script-printing, music-acquisition and facility overhead. Cost of the program is $475 for the entire program -- $450 for "early bird" registration, if signing up and making your fifty percent deposit before April 30, 2013. Final enrollment deadline is May 31.
SPACE IS LIMITED. ENROLL YOUR STUDENT ASAP. LET YOUR CHILD EXPERIENCE THE SMALL THEATRE WITH A BIG HEART!
