PLAYING SHAKESPEARE – STARTS MARCH 8, runs through May 10
Instructor: Cheryl Doyle

This class will offer intensive work on monologues and scenes from Shakespeare's plays, with the goal of helping actors to become comfortable enough with the Bard’s work that they can experience it for what it is -- great, exciting, vital, passionate, theatrical and fun -- and share that experience with an audience. Ms Doyle's productions of Shakespeare's Hamlet, King Lear, and The Tempest were named among the best of the year in the area by critic Stuart Duncan in 2001, 2002, and 2005, respectively. She notes, "Yes, watching Shakespeare plays can be boring, but that's the actor's and director's fault, not Shakespeare's!" Actors will work on speech, text interpretation, monologues for auditions, and complete scenes from Shakespeare plays, and will participate in a public performance of scenes and monologues following the ten-class session.  The classwork is tailored to each individual so that it can benefit those new to Shakespeare as well as much more experienced actors.

FEE: $250 for 10 classes ($225 for Actors’ NET members)
Schedule: Classes every Saturday, March 8-May 10, 2008, from 10 AM to 1 PM
